In Short
Last night I drove a cab around for nine hours and then came home.
In other Cablog news I’ve been contacted by a passenger from a few months back. Her name is Anna Broinowski, an award-winning documentary maker. At the time she gave me the low-down on her latest project, FORBIDDEN LIE$. It details the saga involving Norma Khouri, a writer exposed for fabricating her acclaimed memoir, Forbidden Love.
Norma Khouri is a thief, a saint, a seductress and a sociopath – depending on who is talking. Men want to marry her, Islamic extremists want to kill her, and the global publishing industry wishes she would just disappear...She’s been in hiding ever since. Now she wants to talk.
Broinowski was able to convince Khouri to take part in the documentary, which has just opened. ''I don't believe her," says Anna Broinowski, "but I believe in her." More here.
According to rave reviews this Aussie thriller may be up for an Oscar. For interested Sydney readers Forbidden Lie$ is currently showing at the Verona, Norton Street Palace, Castle Hill Greater Union, the Cremorne Orpheum and Roseville cinemas.
At the time of our encounter I offered to give the doco a plug, in return for a free pass. However given I generally collapse on my nights off, it may be a while before I see it.
Indeed, I fell asleep and missed the Magpies epic finals victory on Friday night !? It's downright embarrassing and apologies to family connections in Melbourne for my appalling lapse in support for the mighty Pies. Forget Kevin07, it's the Pies07.
Speaking of reader feedback I’ve just been contacted by another passenger, the subject of a recent post. His Mum found the post via a search engine and was really stoked, to say the least. Which just confirms the power of the internet and how bloggers should be careful with what they post. Not only is Jesus watching when we download porn (though why, I’m unsure) but mothers' may also be watching what we upload.
Finally, I’ve knocked up a couple of new videos covering the last few weeks. One is APEC related and the other is holiday stuff. Have a relaxing Sunday.
