All Quiet
From my perspective there wasn't much to report last night, aside from the inordinate amount of police patrolling the Eastern Suburbs. At both Coogee and Maroubra roadblocks were in place. At the same time news radio reported the seizure in Brighton of a vehicle carrying white supremacists and numerous weapons.
I tended to work around Coogee thereby capitalising on a noticable lack of cabs. Whilst the beaches suffered reduced numbers of patrons and night revellers I heard the City was much the same, very quiet. One passenger travelling from Coogee to Maroubra seemed to sum it all up, 'The gangs have won'. It's going to be a long summer for police, beach goers and related businesses.

It is interesting just how little information we here in the USA get about what is happening in Australia.

I read with interest that The Spike (or whatever its new name is) in the SMH is running a worst taxi driver story. http://www.smh.com.au/stayintouch/
Could I suggest that you send in your story of the worst passenger to spike.
I sent in mine, even if it happened 20 years ago, which fact I failed to mention.
Maybe you could even suggest that your fellow drivers do the same.

Why lock down the eastern beaches? The problems are started by Lebenese gangs coming in from Lakemba and Bankstown, not the reverse. In fact, there are no carloads of aggro surfers heading up to Lakemba, so its the usual actions of the cowardly NSW 'govt.' blaming the victims. This situation has been going on for years, everyone knows it, and everyone knows that the riots last weekend were the result of years of frustration on the part of locals. Tired of seeing their daughters, girlfriends and sisters threatened and harrassed by these morons. Tired of the usual Leb attack odds (50 to 1)and damned tired of getting no response when they complain, or being labelled 'racists' because they refuse to bend over and grab their ankles for these 7th century misfits and their superstitions..
Damn the traitors who allowed this situation to happen and then exacerbated it by their inaction, they have betrayed all Australians. I'd just love to see Hawke, Keating or Iemma survive in the atmosphere they created, but fat chance, others take the consequences for their treachery. Yeah, I'm angry. And so are plenty of Sydney people, this wont go away because some anti-racist bs rally was held.
When can we expect to see some arrests from the convoy of Lebs who trashed Maroubra? Too hard? Much easier to arrest so called 'white supremicists' isnt it. Burn in hell, Iemma.

A Southern Cross News report went like this:
"The one week anniversary of the Cronulla race riots passed without incident."
In typically breathless SCN style. You know something, I actually hate their news readers.

Hey Dee,
I love it when you get angry!
Just a couple of points regarding your post:
The traitors you mention span Hawke, Keating and Iemma - some 22 years. But the last 10 years we have had your (undoubted) hero Mr Howard as PM. Doesn't he therefore have to share some of the blame? Also a traitor? A Multicultural Society supporter? Doesn't he control the immigration system? The numbers?
Isn't it a fact that more migrants from the ME and Asia are coming now, under Howard than ever came here under Hawke and Keating?
Aren't there also more abortions under Howard than ever before? More marriage breakdowns? More Gays? More drug addicts?
Despite Howards rhetoric and "dog whistles" ("we decide who comes here and the manner in which they come"; anti-abortion; pro-family; anti-gay; war on drugs, blah, blah), and Dees little rant, what Howard actually achieves is very different from his words and whistles.
Admit it Dee - Howard is a traitor and he betrayed the nation. And so did John Fahey, obviously. And the other Lib/Nat Premiers over the last 22 years, too, just for good measure.
Cheers,
